Kim, the wild irish Rover.

Beazley expresses sympathy for the wrong Rove

Federal Labor Leader Kim Beazley has attempted to express sympathy for Rove McManus ahead of today’s funeral for his wife Belinda Emmett.

But Mr Beazley has mistakenly called him “Karl Rove”, who is the deputy chief of staff in the Bush Administration.

Before he addressed a union conference today, Mr Beazley expressed his sympathy, but used the name of the controversial US politician instead of the Australian television host.

“Today our thoughts and the thoughts of many, many Australians will be with Karl Rove as he goes through the very sad process of burying his beloved wife,” Mr Beazley said.

“And I just want him to know that my thoughts and the thoughts of my colleagues are very much with him today.”

The Federal Opposition’s Health spokeswoman, Julia Gillard, says Mr Beazley mis-spoke and the incident does not raise questions about his health.

“Mr Beazley appears in good health. He certainly says he’s in good health and he keeps up a work pace which I think would certainly hurt many other people,” she said.

“He certainly works hard, he’s campaigning hard.

“This was an accidental slip for which he’s apologised.”

Further clarifying the situation, the last remaining bloodied but unbowed spokesperson for the Leader of the Opposition, the Black Knight (recently seconded from the cast of "Monty Anaconda's Holy Grail" by the ALP to take responsibility for changing Kim's incompetence incontinence nappies ) said, "The heartfelt statementant by Leader of the Opposition should not be in anyway regarded as a mispokification. Au cointreau, he has been seriously representified by the jackals of the press. What the Leader of the Opposition, Kim Philby actually didn't mispoke was, "Today our thoughts and the thoughts of many, many Austrians will be with the many, many owners of Land Rovers as they go through the very sad process of coming to terms with the fact that the connection between Rover and Land Rover has been irrevocably broked.

We are most saddified by the fact that BMW sold LandRover (4x4) to Ford and that consequently MG and Rover Cars were bought by the `Phoenix Group'."

"Further, it should be clear to anyone with half a vote that the Leader of the Opposition would never have mispoken the name Karl Rove when he has shown in gratuitous doorstop interview after gratuitous doorstop interview that he has been fully up to speed on the very personal tragedy that has recently befallen the multi Logie Award winner Karl Marx and his recently deceased partner Belinda Hamlet."
